Who will be eatin"Chinese/Asian" on Christmas Even

by Dan Thomas » Mon Dec 24, 2007 5:55 am

A sort of tradition for my wife and I...

And it seems a shame after spending time with the family; Usally haven eaten way too much;

But somehow we always find ourselves(and several others) getting take out or eating at at "Empress of China" in Holiday Manor every year!

I was wondering.... How many other forumites do something simuilar?.

Having no family locally, we don't usually do much to celebrate Christmas other than usually a nice dinner at home on Christmas Eve. We're thinking really seriously about going out to Vietnam Kitchen tomorrow ...

We did Oriental House last year, but DH has already said that VK sounds like a winner for this year! Wasn't there another thread discussing a possible rendevous time?

I posted and said Mary and I are thinking about going out for lunch and asked if anyone wanted to meet up, but no replies at this point.

We'll probably wander out around noonish. I wonder how much of a crowd of heathens there'll be.

"Heathens for four?" So, that would be in smoking?

We don't do it anymore as Brian's family comes in from Eastern Kentucky, but....

When I was growing up in the Chicago Suburbs, Chinese Takeout on Xmas Eve was our long standing tradition. My parent's best friends were Jewish, and we'd get the two families together for takeout: kids/teens loved the food and the Mom's loved not having to cook. We didn't have any local extended family and sharing XMas Eve (and the food) with the Morrison's was one of my favorite Xmas memories. Thanks for bringing that memory back!
