Interesting story from EATER Portland Oregon

by Mark R. » Wed Mar 04, 2015 10:22 pm

Woman Sues Restaurant for Ruining Her Valentine's Day.

What's anybody else think about this situation? Since she made a reservation for two and only showed up with one person I think the restaurant was right in ethic Internet take up table space. They probably should sue her for leaving without paying the bill.

Is Eater Portland any more reliable than Eater Louisville was? I'd consider the source before thinking too deeply about this story.

Yeah, it appears that Eater simply copied-and-pasted a story from the Portland Oregonian:

The woman sounds like a whiner to me, but I guess anyone with $25 can file a lawsuit, hoping for a quick out-of-court settlement. :

I highly doubt it! I didn't realize they had stolen the story from someplace else when I posted it. Things like the one out there is just as reliable as the one here used to be.

Well, anyway, Mark, pardon the digression. Back to the original story! I think that woman has got high hopes ... surely a judge or jury would laugh her out of court. The big problem, of course, is that a lot of people - especially corporate "people" - will pay a nice settlement just to make something like this go away. And I expect that's why people keep on filing nuisance suits. :(

Wouldn't her Valentine's Day already be ruined if she had to dine alone? It was off the rails before she even showed up.
