Wolfgang Puck's coming soon

by Sherrie G » Sat Dec 22, 2007 10:32 pm

We were driving around downtown this evening. I think we were on Market at a red light when I spied to my right a sign for "Wolfgang Puck's Coming Soon".

The only Puck's we've tried was the WP Express at Disney World years ago. I remember getting a Fluffernutter sandwich. I was in heaven because was difficult (though not impossible) to find Marshmallow Fluff in the South.

I'm guessing that it's a good sign if such a big name in the food industry wants to come to downtown Louisville. Aren't these exciting times?

You really had a hard time finding fluff around here? Not being smart, but did Western KY have the market cornered? I lived off the stuff when camping at Barkeley Lake! Gawd, now what do I do. Can't go looking for it tonight w/ the baby in bed! Thanks for nothing lady!

I've been to a couple of these Puck quickie places in airports and they are, in my opinion, not too bad, but nothing to get excited about. Should be an OK addition for the convention crowd.

(good to see you here, Doogy!)

Correctamundo. Don't expect anything special just because of the Puck name ... think airport fast food. Wolfie is not going to be here supervising the kitchen, or even the commissary that prepared the frozen portions.

Having been employed by the "Puck" culinary empire several years ago(I did a 6 mo. stage at the now long gone Obachine in Scottsdale,AZ) I can tell you this... It was managed as close to a "chain restaurant" as I have ever been employed at...

While there was a great emphasis placed upon product, it was nothing compared to the overall vibe of "Turn and Burn' and hitting certain percentage points based on sales....

However, I did get to meet "The Man" a few times and was pleasantly surprised about how down to earth he is and his grasp about the ongoings of day to day operations....

I ate at the one at Downtown Disney in April and had a decent sandwich, but was far from impressed.

Just to be clear

by Sherrie G » Wed Dec 26, 2007 9:38 am

My excitement is for all that is happening downtown, and not due to a WP's coming to town. Although I could get pretty excited for another Fluffernutter sandwich if someone else was going to make it for me.

Nora,
It was when DH and I lived in LA (Lower Alabama) that I couldn't find Fluff. That might have been due to a run on it in Western KY - thanks for being a Fluffaholic back then. Here, if you are looking for the real thing - Marshmallow Fluff (http://www.marshmallowfluff.com) and not that Jet-puffed (what exactly is jet-puffed anyway?) marshmallow creme stuff by Kraft, I think it's at Walmart.... or is it at Meijer? And someone told me you can get it at Doll's Market on Brownsboro Road. It's been a while since I've given into that sweet tooth of mine and bought some. But no fears, it's around. Welcome to the forum!
