Good eats for cheap

My hubby and I are trying to make better choices when we go out for date nights to help save money. Can you all give me your favorite spots for meals that will be less than $10 per person? We are not picky with food and love local places. Thanks!

Our favorite spots for cheap meals are

Simply Thai - pad thai and wasabi dumplings
Nam Nam - chopped chicken salad and bahn mi
Coals - pizza and chopped salad

all should come in under $20

1. Chicken House in Sellersburg . . . split the best fried chicken around, and if you go Fri nights they have country karioke (and are on the semi-pro circuit, so some wonderful singers) . . . beer may take you over the $20, tho

2. Rooties . . . split a sandwich ($8-10) and a 10-piece smoked wings ($10)

3. Tony Boomboz on Mondays . . . medium pizza and two side salads and appetizer for $20

4. El Molcajete . . . we order the special Molcajete ($15), which is easily enough for two, and may get an appetizer or a few tacos along with it if we're hungry (tacos $1.75-2.25 range)

Stratti Wild Italian. My wife and I eat there frequently and it's rarely over $20 for both of us.

El Camino: If you each get 2 tacos (3.50 to 4.00) and split the Chips and Dips, you should be under $20 before tax/tip.

You could easily get out of Annie's Cafe for $10 or less each.....even with tax and a 20% tip

Zad: Tacos are good and filling. Any one of the rice sides are generous enough to split.

Cumberland Brewery has (or used to have) daily specials.
Wednesdays: A nice sized Bison burger and fries and a beer for $10.

You can get a nice meal at Goose Creek Diner for that price. Noodles and Company is also well within that price range. Of course some other places such as Bob Evans, IHOP, Waffle House etc. also meet that criteria. You can even come very close to that price it Guaca Mole.

A lot of the local casual Mexican and Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai spots will easily get you under that target, too.

Thanks for the help! Funny story. We tried El Molcajete tonight but apparently chose the wrong one. We went to one on Preston. Hopefully it was as tasty! The tacos were good.

Oh, it's good, Jenny, but now you've still got the one on Fourth to look forward to!

The Cottage Inn on Eastern Parkway and Goose Creek Diner come to mind. Both are good ol' fashioned home cooking and very reasonably priced....I think the Cottage Inn only takes cash.
