What's going on at the old 3rd Ave. Cafe spot?

by Gordon M Lowe » Thu Dec 25, 2014 7:35 am

While whizzing by the other day, I noticed out of the corner of my eye something different about that corner. Any news?

What ever it is, it was open last night. Possibly, from what i saw driving by, a hookah bar. The light changed as i was trying to read the sign, so all I saw was a big B.

It's been opens since late summer. I've never noticed many customers there. I have yet to try it. What's really odd is that the front window has been broken for a month. I wonder if they are sorting out insurance or something?

Im convinced there are more than a few "restaurants" in town being used to clean/launder drug money for local or state dealers and distributors. Many restaurants are cash businesses and therefore provide one of the perfect ways to turn illicit money into legal profits.

There is a certain burrito place on Bardstown that has managed to remain open the six years I have lived here and yet there is never anyone in the place.
I eat, therefore I am.

I don't know if you're talking about La Bamba, but if so, I'm told it's hoppin' between around 1 and 4 a.m., after most other kitchens are closed.

They've been open for months. At least long enough to get hit by a car, which seems to happen too frequently to our Old Louisville businesses on corners. (Ermins, Mag Bar, Barasti) Oh yes, it's called Barasti. They offer hooka in the evenings (long after I've left after lunch). I've eaten there twice and the food is pretty solid if not terribly imaginative. Usual lineup of sandwiches and apps of the fast casual/bar type food.

That said, Old Louisville is happy to have them. Please don't start rumors about them not being a legitimate restaurant, unless you actually know somethng. It's hard enough for a small busienss to make it these days without unfounded rumors.
