Welcome to the Louisville Restaurants Forum, a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.
If I can keep my husband off the road, I can hibernate for days, especially now since we just moved to my dream house! I have to have spices and carbs. Chili with spaghetti, chicken and dumplings. Must have good stock for lots of soups with beans and my canned tomatoes.
I've been canning like crazy lately so we're in pretty good shape. Grew, picked and canned 65 points of green beans this summer. Have quarts of soup beans and quarts of applesauce put up. Also have canned chicken and stock. Did 6 pints of stock today along with 4 quarts of chicken meat with stock. We ain't gonna starve, that's for sure.
I think we are stocked up pretty good. We should be able to make it until tomorrow afternoon when it all melts.
But if I had to stock up, the list would contain a lot of cheese and probably potatoes and cream. Nothing soothes the wintry soul like thick, creamy potato soup!

I made it to Trader Joe's yesterday to stock up on Pizza Al Pollo Asado and Vegetable Samosas...I gotta have some savory and spicy during this cold spell...Though it seems like every time I shop at Trader Joe's a grocery item that I really enjoy has been discontinued...The other day it was the four pack of 100% Pineapple Juice and a few weeks before that it was the Turkey "Meatloaf Muffins" Layered with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes & Spinach...I hope to see these items return again along with the Kimchi Fried Rice and the 5 Layer Bean Dip.
