This has always been a good location. Should be fun to see what he brings ...

Yeah, that's right around the corner, too. If he makes it into another Village Anchor, I'm there. The sense I get from the article, though, is that he's going to respect tradition and not make the core clientele unhappy, so I'm guessing he's going to keep what he's got but kick it up a notch or several. For starters, maybe go from the "kitchen manager" concept to the "chef" concept?

How was/is he involved with Austin's? I knew he was planning on buying the old Garrett's building on Shelbyville Road but didn't do that and now it's going to become a florist shop.

I don't know, Robin, on the one hand I get it, but on the other hand, that is a primo spot. I might risk blowing out the old cobwebs and taking the whole place to a new level. Will be interesting either way and is a very exciting development

When I worked at K Ts in the kitchen in the early 90s everything was made from scratch '( dressing , frys , sauces ,desserts) and it was busy very busy. All he would have to do is what Texas road house does what KTs used to do and thatl location would rock ,,!

I don't know the details (maybe someone else here can give them?) but I think KT's and Austin's were brother/sister restaurants with interlocking ownership and very similar menus.

While Austin's is not wonderful, (1) we can fall out of bed and get there, (2) it's dependable with no surprises, and (3) they have some tasty sandwiches! I'm not happy about this one . . .

Apply the Village Anchor model- make it a bit more kid friendly.

I'm seriously thinking about going to KT's for a Hot Brown every day until they close...

This sounds like a win win. The KT's/Austin's group have a nice exit after a long a successful run, Goodwill gets new digs (which they needed) and Kevin gets to serve wonderful meals to us in a new location.

Well, I knew something was brewing with Kevin!

KT's had kinda fallen off of my radar of late (mainly because of the fact that so many new places have popped up), but when he get's up and running, I'm sure I'll be back there.

I just hope he doesn't get rid of those wonderful shoestring fries!
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

KTs was one of those easy choices when you have picky eaters, kids, casually dressed. The bar was quite a pick up place in the day! I don't think they ever shared the recipe for the artichoke dip, did they? I wish them great success, doggone that's a great location, parking and all.
