Sushi grade tuna/salmon

by Jerry C » Fri Nov 07, 2014 4:10 pm

My son wants to try and make his own sushi home.

Is there any place in Louisville that sells (especially salmon) sushi grade fish to the general public.

Might try Highland Seafood or possibly Whole Foods, although in either case I'd be skeptical and ask a lot of questions.

Or! Put out a call to Bluefin and see if they'll tell you what retailers (if any) buy their sushi-grade ahi. It may be that it all goes to restaurants, but i think they'd be willing to answer the question. Maybe. Let us know!

Salmon is hard to do.

On the other hand, The Fresh Market has Sushi Grade Tuna. It's frozen on the ship. But some fantastic fish. You can ask at the seafood counter to get Frozen and take it home to use when you want.

We've had the tuna that Richard referred to and it's very good. Not the salmon you are looking for but may be a good substitute until you can find the salmon.

When Hiko-a-mon first opened they had a fish counter and sold sushi-grade seafood. While they have removed the counter, I believe they still do sell the fish on request. I would call and ask!
