New Restaurant on Hurstbourne Lane?

by Jeremy Coker » Tue Nov 04, 2014 2:03 pm

Does anyone know any details about a potentially new place opening up on Hurstbourne Lane next door to the new Goodwill building? There is a pretty large building currently under construction on the site and when a colleague of mine had lunch at the nearby Firehouse Subs the manager mentioned that there was going to be a new "fancy sit-down dining place" going into the new building.
Anyone know anything?

I've been watching that go up also and have been wondering what it's going to be. It's actually not that big of a building, it almost looks like a fast food type building. I know that Skyline Chili have announced they are going to be building a new building but I thought that was going to be the other side of the road over where the Lone Star Steak restaurant used to be which is now a vacant lot.

...which is where Todd Blue planned a Maserati dealership until he decided to move to Houston.

My understanding is it's the first Louisville branch of First Watch.

If so, I don't have high hopes for them. I've eaten at several through Ohio, and they are a pale imitation of Wild Eggs (not to mention the other good breakfast places we have). The only thing going for them is the lack of competition (other than Mimi's Cafe?) in the close-in area.

Looking at the First Watch menu that's available online I certainly understand how you classify it as a pale imitation of Wild Eggs! The menu sees the rather strange and they even have mutilated many traditional items. Melted cheese on top of hash, all of their sausages turkey sausage, several versions of eggs Benedict none of which are traditional, etc. I'm not sure what market segment they are shooting for but....

We have eaten at the First Watch in downtown Cincinnati a couple of times and we both thought it was pretty good. Not as good as Highland Morning or Wild Eggs, but on or above par with the other breakfast chains out here on the Hurstbourne corridor. I welcome another breakfast option out here! :D

This is my favorite Goodwill in town and I am going to have to fight for parking with a place I won't even want to eat at...not my happy face.
