Bobby Flay's Louisville eatery. Really?

by Robin Garr » Tue Nov 04, 2014 11:29 am

So the CJ is reporting that Bobby Flay is still talking about a purported Louisville eatery. Do I smell good eats ... or bad hype?

In other news, Lynn Winter still says she will sell the long-vacant Lynn's. Didn't Bobby meet Lynn at a Throwdown there? Hmmm ...

I thing the waterfront Tumbleweeds location would work for Bobby.

Certainly a much better possibility than the old Lynne's. It's both a much nicer building and location. I'm sure he could make the numbers work, something that Tumbleweed couldn't. There have been many reports that he likes Louisville and he's into horses so maybe it's not such a far-fetched idea of him opening a restaurant here. The interesting part will be if it's a a copy of one of his other concepts or something entirely new.

A restaurant with Bobby Flay's name on it would be a can't miss tenant for the old riverfront tumbleweed location. He could open a restaurant in any of the trendy areas of town and do well. Not sure he would want to give away the large percentage of his sales as required by the lease at that location.

It would do very well for the first 6 months to a year, but after that you have to put up the goods. Name recognition only goes so far.

Ronnie,

Agree- but the Riverfront location will also pull in tourists/ convention/arena visitors. They don't necessarily have knowledge of whether or not they've delivered.
I would think downtown locations would be vying to attract him and the name recognition. Is the spot in 4th street where the short-lived Bim restaurant was still sitting open? ( I don't ever go to 4th street).

Hopefully it won't be in 4th Street Live! That's not the best setting for a nice restaurant and also I'd like it to be someplace that I'd visit and 4th Street doesn't fit that criteria. It's basically just a big bar scene anyway, food is kind of an afterthought.
