Dinner salads, East End

by Mark R. » Sat Sep 27, 2014 4:21 pm

Where can you get a nice large salad to have for dinner in the East End of Louisville? My wife and I are both craving one for dinner and other than the one at Rafferty's, which is okay but not exceptional, we can't really think of any place to get one. Does anybody else have a go to place for a large dinner salad, preferably with protein of some kind in it?

I've been eating the grilled chicken and spinach salad from the Bristol- at least one a week, sometimes two- for the past 6 weeks. It has spinach, whole garlic cloves, sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, bacon, red onion, grilled chicken, croutons, and balsamic vinaigrette. I'm not much of a salad eater, but I'm addicted to this (minus the cheese).

Build your own salad at Lucky's. Grab a $2 craft beer and a seat outside on a picnic table.

KT's has great dinner salads! The Chef's Salad has turkey, ham, cheddar and Monterey Jack, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, and almonds. Their homemade Lemon Poppyseed dressing is excellent! Their croissants make it even better...

At Cafe Lou Lou you can add chicken or shrimp to any large salad for a big, satisfying meal. And there's already a grilled chicken salad you don't have to "add" it to.

I'd completely forgotten about that! That will probably be where we head the next time we have that hankering.

I like Rafferty's salads and I love Mitchell's for their Caeser salad. I have not had a better Caeser salad anywhere.

Corner Cafe has good salads . . . also, for East End hit Austin's (instead of KT's)

I didn't jump on because it's not East End and it's not dinner, but I do love the Big Salad at City Cafe. Or loved it at the Skid City Mall/Baxter Theatre location, anyway. I hope they have it at the remaining location downtown and that it's as good there. Must check, one of these days.
