Literal much?

You're right, though, although there's a Facebook community fighting to bring it back.

While the article was very well written it's sad to think that some members of the community are taking what could be a serious threat to public safety Louisville so lightly! We've already seen once this year how much havoc can be raised in a short period of time by unruly members of society here in Louisville. We certainly don't need to take any future threats lightly (please and other public safety officials certainly haven't).

That's very obvious to those of us with any sense but, many members of the community don't realize that things like this are written in jest. I don't know what the reader base is for the site where this was posted nor have I ever looked at the site before. Maybe everything they do is in jest in which case, no harm no foul, but if they regularly put out usable information it's in bad taste.

In the original post: "The Germantown Times - a local humor page."

I really don't know anyone who's taking this 'threat' literally. It's a trending Thing in every city where the movie The Purge is coming out, and it's nowhere in all other cities. Bad taste in marketing? I'm sure, but what's new about that?

Maybe it isn't a serious threat. Maybe it's a kid just making s#$t up.

People appear to have taken in pretty seriously. A local bar I was at last night was nearly empty on a night when the place is usually packed. There was much scuttlebutt about it from all of the employees as well.

As for the "Surge," Robin, I wasn't trying to be too literal, but a good joke is in sync with the times. Would the joke have worked if the paper had referenced Beeman's Gum? You've got to stay topical Robin! Would you like to hear my collection of Yakov Smirnoff jokes?
