Does anyone know what the deal is with Caviar? I know they stopped dinner service but I went for lunch yesterday and it was closed. There was no sign or any indication of any other issues. I love this place for lunch.

No, sorry, not sure what's up. I've only been once, for lunch, and didn't go back when I found myself...indisposed...later in the day.

Hiko purchased from Sammy last week. The deal is done. Hiko plans to open for lunch and dinner sometime in Sept.

This is the Hiko of Hiko-A-Mon, correct? If so, that bodes well for Caviar!

Yes, you are correct Robin. This will be Hiko's third restaurant in our area.

Does anyone know if Caviar has opened back up yet?

Hiko sounded less than firm in his plan in the Aug. 1 Business First article. :(

All I've got is that Caviar's old phone number, (502) 625-3090, rings a few times and then goes over to a fast-busy, like a long-neglected answering service.

We ate at Hiko-a-Mon last week, and they said they expect to open in the Caviar location later in the fall.

BTW, I know of this and the original (Hiko-a-Mon), but what is the "third" restaurant he owns?

Did he buy Wasabiya on Bardstown? I'm not at all confident in saying this, but it popped into my head when you asked.

Yup, they're open since October 6. Only one visit so far, but the shrimp noodles were very tasty (though they'd have been easier to eat in a bowl rather than on a plate). I never went to Caviar, so I can't make a comparison on that front. Prices did seem a tad high for downtown lunch, but quality is worth paying for. Still, it'll make it a bit harder to justify making this a regular stop, at least for my budget.
