I consider myself a fairly daring diner but the items on that list are truly disgusting!

Not me .. I can't manage to choke down lamb much less that stuff, the odd thing is I can eat breakfast with no problems.. chicken embryo, pork belly, and partly burnt wheat smeared with congealed milk fat .. YUM !

As the old lady said when she kissed the cow, each to their own taste.

Oddly enough the thing that grossed me out the most was the idea of bat hair in a my soup.

As I read through I started to think of it in terms of if I was going to starve or eat ONE of those which it would be. No contest - fried tarantulas, here I come! Preferably with condiments.

Also, I can't it get out of my mind: how do they get all this bird saliva for the soup?

Normally, they take the actual nests, and soak them. The saliva was utilized like a glue, holding it all together, and it dissolves out into the (hot) water, flavoring it. The nests are strained out, and what you're left with is birds' nest soup!

It's the only one I've eaten - delicious!

What I bemoan is that in Louisville - with all the adventurous food here - we don't have the option! I would LOVE the opportunity to say "No, I don't want that", but to be offered it!

Thanks for the nightmares!! Although I have heard of these foods, I had a dream last night that I was working a busy brunch and every egg I cracked had a chicken embryo in it. I need to up my meds.

Oh Yeah- Bird's Nest Soup sounds like it might be good.

I prefer my disgusting nightmare foods rendered unrecognizable and presented in a hotdog casing or on a McDonalds bun, thank you very much.

My nightmare wasn't the actual chicken embryo, but the fact that I was railed with brunch orders and couldn't fry a regular egg. I also have PTSD from the never ending sauté printer in my head.
