I had a hard time adjusting to the new style at first... then I remembers that I need my readers to read most anything these days!

However that pizza background is way too in-your-face in my opinion. Maybe darken up the image or something so its not so bright and distracting. Or just don't use a background image.

Aw, man, we love the pizza background! 8)

Seriously, we're thinking of changing it out regularly with various food images. It usually shows only as a border, doesn't it?

But its like you have it inversed. Should be neutral background with colors/images to draw attention to the content. New forum has neutral content with bright, colorful background. Draws your eyes to the edge of the page instead of what you are reading.

Its like the opposite of this: http://www.theverge.com/

Just my opinion anyway. Won't stop me from visiting.

Gaaah! My eyes!

Good deal. :) And give us a week or three. It's definitely part of the plan to swap the background out regularly, and we'll experiment with different styles to see what folks think.

I like the changes they were made to allow black text on a white background for the posts and the black text on a gray background for quoted text. Makes it much easier to read.

I'll pass your thanks to Mary, who says she just about busted her brain trying to figure out how to do it.

I am notoriously bad at accepting changes in my digital/screen world. I will get used to it, though - historically I forget what the thing I was pining over used to look like.

My only real problem is that I can't find the "number of posts" or the "times viewed" of threads. Am I just missing seeing it, or are those counters really gone forever?

I see them, Marsha! Hmm ... they may get squeezed off on smart phone or smaller tablet screens, though. This software uses a "responsive" design that modifies the view to fit mobile screens. What kind of hardware are you using to view the forum?

Well, you used to be able to see them just glancing at the list of threads, without actually clicking on the thread. I now see that if I click on and enter the thread, the number of posts is listed. I still don't see "times viewed", though. And I'm on a desktop using Chrome. Well, actually, I'm in a chair but I'm using a desktop computer.

Clicking on the little "Unread Posts" page icon doesn't seem to be reliably taking me to the first unread post in the thread. It generally did so on the previous version of the forum software. Now it's more often taking me to the very first post in the thread.

Hmm ... that's puzzling, Jeff, as this is my standard way of reading the forum, and I've found it failure-free. Also, the new design is really just dropped right over the old engine, so it shouldn't have changed the way things work.

For trouble-shooting, do you mind telling me your operating system and browser?

Thanks!

For the record, I'm in a completely different camp, having no problems using Chrome on Mac OS X Mavericks.

Windows 7, and IE 9. Like I said, though, it's intermittent.
