Info wanted for another poll: Pizza from non-pizzerias

by Robin Garr » Mon Jun 16, 2014 9:15 am

Since we've been having a weekly poll on Mondays for a couple of weeks now, I thought I'd continue the new tradition  this week. Before I commit to a formal poll, though, your input is welcomed: Making up for the gaps in "Favorite Pizza," I thought we could do a poll on "Best pizza from places that aren't just pizzerias."

I've got on my list:

Cafe Lou Lou
Caffe Classico
Garage Bar
Majid's
Wild Rita's

Who else should be on?

Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen makes a nice pizza. Add a salad and save room for pie!

Do "flatbreads" count? They are certainly pizza-like!

If so, thinking a tad outside the box I'd add Marketplace at Theatre Square, and Dragon King's Daughter.

Yep, I was thinking specifically of Majid's Margherita flatbread, which is built on lavash but pizza-like indeed.

Is HIC&PK's "pizza" an ice cream pizza? I might balk at that, but as long as it has bread cheese and tomato sauce (or acceptable savory variant), I'm in.

The Corner Café probably needs to be on that list also! We normally don't get pizza there but they look decent.

I really enjoy the pizza at Come Back Inn in Jeffersonville. Now only a 1/2 mile walk away...

It has been a while so it might not still be the case, but I remember Flannigans had pizza.

Yes, it's real pizza.. Personal size, thin crust. We get them at the Frankfort Ave store.

You go to HIC&PK on Frankfort when Comfy Cow is directly across the street!?

I'm guessing they go for the pizza. Surely not for the ice cream!

Does California Pizza Kitchen count? I think pizza is maybe 15% of the menu.

That's probably true, Margie, but I arbitrarily counted it as a "pizzeria" in the previous poll because, well, "pizza" is its middle name.

My question would be, "Do you really go to HIC&PK for pizza when Clifton's is across the street?"
