Cakes/tortes...

by NDDuncan » Wed May 28, 2014 8:19 pm

First...HELLO!!! :D I haven't been on here for years! But I thought it would be a good place to start - back in the day, there was a quaint little bakery in the McMahan Plaza called Your Just Desserts - they made cake tortes. They offered a variety of flavors, and each cake had several layers with filling, fruit, mouse, etc. Oh sooooo good, in fact, I ordered my wedding cake from them! I remember being told they were owned by Camelot Bakery, so when my daughter made her First Communion we got a lemon cake/torte from them, and yes, it was amazing. It's time for graduation, so now I'm wondering, does anyone know if any bakeries in town make these?

I know I've seen them at Heitzman's bakery on Shelbyville Road, not sure if I have them all the time or for something that has to be specially ordered but you may want to give them a call.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but I grabbed a slice of "High Roller" cake from Sweet Surrender for my husband's birthday and it was PHENOMENAL!!! The High Roller is a layer cheesecake, a layer of chocolate torte, and a layer of chocolate mousse iced in raspberry french buttercream. So good!! They also sometimes have a Buckeye cake: chocolate cake, peanut butter buckeye filling, peanut butter mousse, and is iced in ganache.

Even if those aren't exactly what you are looking for, I would call sweet surrender because i bet they can do it!

Hi, Nancy, and welcome back! It's good to see you.

I don't know about this specific cake, but Sweet Surrender would definitely be a good place to check. If they don't have it, they might be willing to make it!
