APRON's Disco Ball is June 4

by Robin Garr » Wed May 14, 2014 9:41 am

Apron Inc. will have its 3rd Annual Disco Ball Wednesday, June 4, from 6-9 p.m. at The Olmsted. Over 30 local independent restaurants (including some that aren’t even open yet) will offer tasty bites; liquor vendors will offer samples of wine, spirits and beer; there'll be an incredible silent auction; a DJ will play grooves from the 70’s, and of course there'll be dancing. Disco attire is encouraged!

All proceeds go to Apron, Inc.

The mission of APRON, Inc. is to provide temporary, limited financial relief to professional food and beverage workers in the Louisville, KY metro area who work at locally owned establishments and are experiencing financial distress due to illness, injury or other issues. The funds raised at the annual events go directly to locals in need of this support. Serving as a safety net, APRON serves the local community “helping you out of the weeds.”

With the vibrant and thriving independent restaurant landscape in Louisville, APRON, INC. grew out of a need to support the workers at such establishments who by no fault of their own have fallen on hard financial times mostly relating to unexpected medical costs.

Date: Wednesday, June 4, 2014
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Location: The Olmsted, 3701 Frankfort Ave.
Admission: $50 per person, $100 VIP

I just came from our latest APRON board meeting. We are getting pretty excited about this! Chime in here if you're planning to attend. It's going to be epic!

You do not have to dress in Disco attire but it sure would be awesome if you did! We had a blast last year. $50 per person, $100 VIP.

Can you resist the power of Booze, Bites and Boogie?

Also now participating are River City Winery and The ACF Kentucky Chapter! :D
We are really looking forward to this years event!
We have a great venue and hopefully by moving to a weeknight we will see more of our foodservice brethren coming out and having a great time!

Loop 22's been added to the mix!

Whenever I explain APRON's mission to someone, they always have the same reaction: "What a great organization! That's really something to be proud of!" Well, we are proud. Proud to be able to help out our peers and compatriots when they need it most. But in order to do that, we need to keep our treasury replenished. That means we need money, in order to be able to grant the requests we receive each month. And the only way we have to make money is our few fundraisers a year we ask you to participate in. Please know that our board is all-volunteer and our administrative costs are as close to zero as is possible to get. The little money we spend that doesn't go directly to help grantees simply pays for things like printing and postage.

So please attend! Order your tickets online today at the events tab at aproninc.org, or click our banner ad that's in rotation at the top of this page.

Please share the event with your Facebook friends, too: click here It's not just a dance, it's a foodie tasting extravaganza!
