Have not seen this on the board...saw Five Guys "coming soon" on the building next to The Beverage Warehouse in St. Matthews today.

Those signs have been there for at least 6 months. I stopped holding my breath. Even if they do eventually open, it's not going to have been "soon".

The restaurant's plan for the site will be reviewed May 8 by the Metro Planning Commission's Land Development & Transportation Committee. The plan would also need to be reviewed by the St. Matthews City Council.

It's in the place where Hwang's Martial Arts used to be, which is one-half mile east of where Sears used to be.

There was something about it in the Neighborhoods section of the CJ last week. I saw it in the print edition and should have posted here, although due to its "chainy-ness" in a neighborhood rich with indies, I guess it didn't stay on my radar long enough.

Can someone explain the appeal of 5 Guys to me?

Overpriced and too many fries. The burgers were good, but nothing hyper impressive.

I could be wrong, but I think "fries" are those things that deliver catsup into my mouth.

That's my thought also. I've certainly never been impressed with them. Home Run Burgers has a much better product at a more reasonable price especially if you have the lunchtime special.

Catsup is a waste of a perfectly good tomato.

That's why I only use the cast off tomatoes, and save the perfectly good ones for slicing and dashing with Tony's

Sure.

1. Order the little fry and split with someone. Just the right amount of fries. The cajun fries are good.
2. It's a pretty decent size and quality burger for the cost. I think we spend about $20 for 2 when we (rarely) eat there.

I like Home Run burger, I like Five Guys a little better. I think their fries and burgers are (marginally) better.

Does Five Guys still give free peanuts? I always thought that was a nice touch. 8)
