Other than the farmers market in St. Matts does anyone know where I can buy good Tamales ? I need 'em by Thursday. Thanks.

Steve, get past your disdain for authentic tacquera's and check out this spot. They usually have fresh homemade tamales.

I can speak directly about the tamales, but it is a great and authentic grocery and restaurant.

Wow! They have a real web site! And it's informative, with readable menus! I am so there for the oysters on the half shell!

Trader Joe's frozen stuff goes from pretty awesome to wtf. The tamales are on the pretty awesome side. And if you ask I think they will sell you a case.

Assuming Susan's the one who runs the food truck by the same name, I've had her tamales once. IIRC all she had available when I ordered were the mild pork and chicken options, and maybe the "mild" should have clued me in, but they were utterly tasteless.

El Chapinlandia makes good tamales, but they are called chuchitos and are somewhat smaller than the standard Mexican variety. Nice red chile pork filling.I think they're definitely a contender.
