Louisville is a foodie town, The restaurants and those who work in foodservice around Louisville deserve a pat on the back and a day of fun and games, especially as thousands descend on Louisville for Kentucky Derby. This year the Kentucky Restaurant Association is hosting the first annual B4 Derby Olympics to do just that! Held the Tuesday before (B4) Derby on April 29, 2014. Starting at 11:00 am, this event will be at the Louisville Executive Aviation Hanger at Bowman Field and will consist of eating, drinking and running wild! B4 stands for BBQ, Bluegrass, Bourbon and Brew so you can expect a little of each there!

The hardworking restaurant industry peeps can come out and compete in 6 different competitions for the day. These are fun games to blow off some steam before Derby, so gather together your co-workers, friends or family to compete! The KRA has partnered with APRON and donated a portion of proceeds to the cause. APRON is a great organization to help professional food and beverage industry workers in Louisville who work at one of Louisville's great locally owned restaurants during a time of financial distress. Sign up for a day of fun whether you register one of these competitions or all of them!

Up first is the Roll Out the Barrel Competition, this is one of the days individual competitions. Taking place through out the day, you will rock and roll your barrel through a series of obstacles. The fastest time wins and you can only compete once so practice your barrel rolling skills! This event is sponsored by Maker's Mark, you can sign to compete at the Eventbrite page.

The Brew Ha Ha! This is a two person relay, where you and your partner pour two beers, jump on a dolly and take a ride through the Brew Ha Ha obstacle course. The team who makes it through with the fastest time and the most beer left wins. This event is sponsored by West Sixth Brewery, you can sign to compete at the Eventbrite page.

This four person relay in which competitors will pop the cork, pour, toss and run with their team through an obstacle wine course! Whoever crosses the finishes line with the most wine left in their glass and the fastest time wins! The event is sponsored by Barefoot Wine and the local Old 502 Winery, you can sign to compete at the Eventbrite page. Get a preview of this event at their 'mini' event at the Chocolate bar, Thursday April 10!

This is another individual event, that you can register for the day of. They previewed this event at their Molly Malone's 'mini' event, check them out on twitter for pictures! Test your strength, by holding two beer steins filled with beer straight out in front of you for as long as you can! Anyone can enter, for $10 a try, hold your steins and then you can drink your beer! Proceeds go to APRON, and the event is sponsored by West Sixth Brewing.

Calling all Bartenders! This Mix-off is for you! The best local bartenders will be asked to make creative concoctions using Maker's Mark Bourbon and some secret ingredients you will find out when the competition begins at 3 p.m. This event is sponsored by Maker's Mark, you can sign to compete at the Eventbrite page.

For the BBQ portion of the evening is the B4 BBQ Sauce competition! All chefs can enter their soon to be famous BBQ sauce, judged on appearance, texture, and taste, the winners gets a B4 Derby Olympics Barrel Head award and of course the bragging rights. The sauce must be freshly cooked for the event and turned on between 1:00-1:30 p.m., the judging will begin at 2 p.m. by local chefs and foodies. You can register to compete at the Eventbrite page.

It certainly sounds like a fun event! Now that we don't have the Run for the Rosé We Needed Another Fun Event and This Certainly Sounds like It.
