Best places (eateries, watering holes) to watch World Cup?

by Robin Garr » Tue Apr 15, 2014 9:03 pm

To be honest, some of my most memorable World Cup games ever have been when I scouted out an eatery or watering hole - ideally with big screen TV - that share the ethnic status of one of the teams. Nothing better than watching a game with Mexico (or any south-of-the-border country, really) in a Spanish-speaking taqueria. Come to think of it, one of the best World Cup games ever was Argentina vs whoever, watched with a bunch of local Argentinian-Americans at Palermo Viejo.

So, we've got about two months left before the month-long games begin in Rio in mid-June. Can we make up a list of great venues to keep on hand? I'm thinking Hay!! Chi Wa Waa might be a great one for Latino futbol action. GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL!!!

I watched the US/England World Cup match last year at Molly Malone's, and it was phenomenal. Inside was packed, the roof deck was packed, it was a good time.

I have heard Molly's is the spot for true "soccer" fans.......I'm not really sure. That being said, there was no better experience, than watching the World Cup IN Ireland...I saw Ireland tie Germany in an Irish Pub on the outskirts of Dublin, back in 2002. I was traveling all over Ireland for 6 years......what an amazing time.

Molly's is definitely the place for soccer . A load of u Brits gather there for games every weekend, and I fully intend to be there for every England game during the world cup.

I had a blast at Bank Street the last time for the World Cup. The USA vs England beer is still one of my favorites brewed by NABC. The crowd was really into the game, which made it a fine place to enjoy the match and a few beers.

Monkey Wrench has a great vibe for WC soccer especially when USMNT is playing.

Just a reminder of NABC's World Cup Trilogy of three one-off beers, to be released on draft at our two locations on the same day as the USA's opening matches. I'm not prone to hyperbole, but this trilogy is unique, and more can be learned here:
