Oh, my friends - a special request:
A month after Derby, at the beginning of June, APRON will hold our annual Disco Ball fundraiser at The Olmsted. (Lots of details to follow, but this particular request isn't about your attendance.) We'll need lots of things for our epic silent auction. If you are a photographer or artist or fine craftsperson we'd love to have a donation from you, and if you itemize of course you may take its value from your income taxes for 2014, since we are a 501(c)3.
We are also soliciting "experiences" such as chef-cooked dinners in private homes or classes for a few people if you're an instructor of some sort. If you're a musician, you could donate a performance at a private party. If you're a landscaper, you could donate planting a tree or a day's yard maintenance.
If you're just a regular person and would still like to contribute, consider purchasing tickets to something we can raffle off, like orchestra or opera tickets, or a highly-anticipated show at the Kentucky Center (Book of Mormon coming up this summer) or YUM! Center (Katy Perry or Motley Crue).
You can also keep it "foodie" by purchasing something to donate like a small country ham or a basket of local honeys, jams and preserves. And talk your favorite chef into donating his services for one of the "experience" packages!
If you don't know about APRON, it's our local emergency relief fund for cooks and servers at independent establishments in the Louisville Metro Area. You can find more about APRON on our Facebook page or at aproninc.org.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me. We will gladly fetch any physical donations from wherever you are, or pay for shipping. Thanks in advance!
