Farmers Market List

Does anybody have a list of the local farmers markets that will be operating in 2014 that includes when each one will be open? I've been doing some searching on the Internet and can't find one. I can find to several for 2013 but none for this year.

No list, but I can tell you that we went to Bardstown Road Farmers Market today, and it's back to full operation from its slimmed-down winter mode. Opening at 8, and a lot of produce farmers are already there.

St Matthews (Beargrass) has a short season, unfortunately. If I recall correctly, it doesn't open until May, and it closes in September.

Bardstown's Web page seems to have gone dormant, but their Facebook page is active:

Thanks for the information, I saw earlier on Facebook where you were there today. Other years I've been able to find several lists online that listed all of the local Farmers Markets, when they opened for the season and what days and hours they were open. I haven't been able to find one of those this year. I'll keep searching and post it here if I find one

It's a really pretty market, and sometimes I work our booth there, so double awesome!

The Fresh Market on Lexington, next to the Vogue center, has a great farmers market on Sundays. Not sure when the season starts. This market is never crowded and has about 8 booths of beautiful produce. Prices are reasonable too. Have lunch at Coal's then stroll over to the market to shop for dinner!

Is that the one at Rainbow Blossom, Madeline? Across the street from the Vogue? It is a good small one, and a lot of the usual suspects like Dreamcatcher Farm are usually there.

There's also a very small one, but handy to Crescent Hill, in the parking lot of Crescent Hill United Methodist Church, corner of Frankfort and Peterson, on Monday and Friday mornings around 8 a.m. It doesn't start until the week after Memorial Day, though.

The downtown New Albany Farmers Market opens up on May 10th on the corner of Bank and Market. They've had the winter market going, but the outdoor one starts up then.

That's the canonical list, all right! Unfortunately, it appears they've been a little slow to update it, as it still shows BRFM as winter hours until the end of March.

Westport Road Farmers Market opened this weekend. They have also added a food/ coffee truck called " Blackbeard Expresso". I can't vouch for their coffee ( I don't drink it), but their hot chocolate was amazing and only $2.50.

Bringing this topic back up, I've confirmed that the St Matthews Farmers Market at Beargrass Christian Church (corner of Shelbyville Road at Browns Lane) will re-open Saturday, May 10, the weekend after Derby Day. This is one of my favorites, but it runs a relatively short season, opening later than most and closing down in the fall earlier than most.
