Great Flood Brewing opens April 11

by Rich S » Sun Mar 30, 2014 2:57 pm

It took them a bit longer than they expected, but Great Flood Brewing is set to open April 11 at 2120 Bardstown Road, in the Douglass Loop. I don't believe they plan to serve food, but there was some talk about letting people order in from the nearby restaurants.

I'm hoping this is just the first of a series of brewpub/taproom openings: Donum Dei Brewery is supposed to open by Derby in New Albany, and there are also plans for Beer Engine in Germantown, Red Yeti in Jeffersonville and Bannerman on Mellwood Avenue near Brownsboro Road.

A couple weeks ago I wandered by and they invited me in to take a look at what they've done with the place. It's a nice setup, with a bar, a little seating in the front, some tables and a stand up table thing. They seemed like pretty nice guys, and were working on their first beer(an apa if I recall correctly)

Drove by the old zeppelin to see how work was going on the beer engine setup this morning. They've gotten a lot done since the last time I was down that way, walls were up waiting for siding along the rear of the building, looks like they're making good progress.

The guys at Great Flood have been kind enough to offer us spent grain for chicken feed here at the farm. Just riding back and forth with barrels of sweet grain in the car have got me so stoked for this place to open!
