I Spied...on Outer Loop

by Terri Beam » Sun Mar 30, 2014 11:20 am

In the former Fishery building on Outer Loop near Shepherdsville Road, Rooster Creek is moving in.

Apparently this is the second location for a family-owned restaurant. The original location is in Buckner (in what used to be the Starvin' Marvin's). Yep, I'm following the tried and true vocation of giving locations by "what used to be."

I haven't eaten at the original location, so I cannot give an opinion. Online, the menu seems to indicate a country/diner sort of vibe. I'll give them a shot when they open, but if their mashed potatoes are from a bag, use redskin potatoes, or have garlic in them, I will judge them harshly. I'm tired of places billing themselves as "home cooking" and then serving instant or garlicky mashed potatoes.

I've been told the people who own the place are -very- nice...and on my one visit there, the service was very friendly...So that's a definite plus The fact that I live half a mile away and have only been once may give you an indication of how impressed I was with the food/menu.

What can I say? I'm a traditionalist. I want 'em the way my Mom made 'em.

Mashed potatoes out of a box is probably more like what mom used to make than actual potatoes being smashed.
