Let's welcome Anoosh back to Louisville!

by Robin Garr » Fri Mar 14, 2014 9:37 am

Buried in another forum discussion is a report from a local blog that Chef Anoosh Shariat will be returning to full-time chef duty in Louisville later this year.

I've confirmed the accuracy of this report: Anoosh will indeed take charge of the back of house when Mesh opens on the site of the former Azalea this autumn.

I thought it would be good to bring this discussion out into its own topic so we can build a big "Welcome Home!" sign for the guru who gave us Shariat's, then Park Place and Browning's, before leaving to do consultancy for a restaurant in Charlotte for the past year or two.

Welcome home, Anoosh!

I think most of us are certainly glad to see that he's coming back to Louisville! When we 1st moved here Shariat's was one of the 1st local restaurants we visited. It certainly provided a great introduction to Louisville's dining scene! Hopefully with this new adventure he will be given quite a bit of flexibility so he can truly demonstrate his skills in the kitchen.

This makes me very, very happy for two reasons:

1) Anoosh (and Paula, too) were some of the very first from the forum that I met and his advice, wisdom, and friendship have been a big piece of my Louisville life. And

2) It pleases me no end that such a fine chef will be at the helm of a landmark location (even though it will not be the same building).

Now, I must admit that I've stayed in touch (as much as you can with those two busy folks), this really did please me when I saw the announcement yesterday. Looking VERY forward to the venture.

I just ran into Anoosh at lunch and he seemed pretty excited about the new place. He told me a little about the restaurant group that he will be working for and they seem to have the magic touch when it comes to concept and location. I'm looking forward to having him back here full time myself! BTW, He assured me that they will be offering brunch on the patio on Saturday and Sundays! 8)

I have never tasted his food, but I was "on the road" for 20 years and I know how good it feels to be HOME. Wishing him all the best, and I love brunch, Eggs Benedict and Mimosa's rule!!! :D His Hollandaise better be as good as mine!!
