by Mark R. » Mon Mar 03, 2014 5:17 pm

I just read on Business 1st that he Noodles & Company has just signed a franchise deal for the Louisville market. They certainly have a wide variety of menu offerings and depending on price and location to be an interesting chain to eat at.

Here's the article from Business 1st:http://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/news/2014/03/03/noodles-company-heading-for-louisville.html?ed=2014-03-03&s=article_du

I ate at one up in Ohio a few years back. The place was packed, service was fast and the good was good. I do remember thinking if was a bit pricey at the time but over all it was a positive experience.

We had one in town when I lived in the Twin Cities and my kids loved the place.

Isn't YanKee Noodles in many ways a local "ripoff" of Noodles & Co?

I always thought it was a ... um ... borrowing from Pei Wei.

Upon further reflection, yeah, Noodles & Co is apparently international in its understanding of the noodle, incorporating American mac'n'cheez and Italian pasta. Yang Kee and Pei Wei are much more similar in their pan-Asian but only Asian QSR style.

What I remembered was a combo of what you and Steve said . . . great place with kids, since you can end up with decent (not wonderful, but decent) Asian noodle dishes while your kids stick with mac n cheese or spaghetti.

You are right - Yang Kee is more Asian - but they also have mac n cheese on the kids' menu!

I really enjoy Noodles & Co. We had them in Chicago. Their Pasta Fresca and Thai Curry are my two favorites. I'm excited to see one opening here!

It's great to see companies like this doing well and expanding in our ever-more-carb-hostile culture. The way some folks talk these days, you'd think eating a plate of pasta was like downing a bowl of strychnine soup.

The company website says Noodles & Company is coming soon to 1225 South Hurstbourne Parkway. That's apparently the old Great Harvest location, just south of Linn Station Road.

I'd rather have a Pei Wei, but N&Co will be fun for the boy. We'll probably stick with Yang Kee Noodle most of the time though. Always nice to have more options!

I really like Noodles & Company. I travel a lot for work, and when I need something quick and easy and am in Ohio I like to stop in. I tend to stick to the asian dishes. Yang Kee Noodle is better, but this is a pretty good alternative. Especially for indecisive people like me. Not many places that are quick and easy where I can have asian (indonesian peanut saute) and hummus :D I find their price point to be pretty similar to Yang Kee Noodle. I wouldn't mind having one in Louisville.

The "grand opening" for the Hurstbourne Parkway location will be Wednesday the 10th, but apparently the actual opening is Tuesday, when they're splitting the day's proceeds with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Also, their website now says they've got a second location planned at the Paddock Shops (aka the Summit).
