Any recent Thai Taste diners?

by Steve A » Fri Jan 17, 2014 12:30 pm

With all of this talk about good Thai food, I was thinking of trying Thai Taste on Lower Brownsboro for carry out tonight, Main reason is it's on my way home.

There are some old posts here with positive reviews, but nothing recent. And there's not much positive based on what I've found googling around.

Has anybody been there recently?

I'm pretty sure ownership changed a year or two back, Steve. It's fairly close to home for us and used to be a favorite, but recent visits haven't been particularly inspiring. Edible, for certain, but just not as "home-cooked" and friendly as it used to be.

I haven't been for months, though. If you're willing to take one for the team, I'd be eager to hear how it goes for you guys.

At the Thai cooking class recently at Mai's Thai she introduced her nephew as the new owner and said she was cooking there sporadically on Saturdays to help him out. Haven't had a chance to check it out lately but the change in ownership seemed very recent. Let us know, Steve.

I just ate there Wednesday and have been eating there since it opened who-knows-how-long ago. The quality has slipped a bit but it is still quite good.

Alrighty, then.

I was a little hesitant to "take one for the team" on the first day of a three day weekend, but since Mike had been there recently, at the very least I thought it wouldn't kill me.

Stopping in on Friday after work I ordered two go-to Thai dishes to go, chicken and tofu Pad Thai. It dawned on me when I got home with the goods that I wasn't asked how spicy I wanted it, nor did they indicate heat levels on the menu. Digging in to the chicken dish, it was okay, but absolutely no zip to speak of. When my sweetie got home from work she ate the tofu/veggie version, and it seemed to have a bit more going on.

Bottom line, not bad, but needs more cowbell, I mean seasoning. I might try them again, but ask for a bit more spicy.

They have a website (http://www.thaitasterestaurant.net).

It's been a couple years since I've been, but I was always asked what level of heat I wanted(I think it was 1 - 5). I always liked their take-home stuff, but was never impressed with the lunch buffet.
