I am not sure if Buffalo Trace does it this way but the others do.

They squirt a small amount of bourbon into the bottles prior to filling to sanitize them.

Since no rinse is done prior to filling, they must use the same bourbon they will be filling the bottle with if they want to keep the age statement on the bottle. Some of the bourbon used with the rinse would remain in the bottle when filled.
