This looks like another feather in Louisville's foodie cap ...
Culinary Leaders will Gather here in October 2014
Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA) will host its 2014 conference
in Louisville October 5-9. The conference will bring together North America’s leading
restaurateurs and chefs to discuss the future of dining. This prestigious event was
held in Vancouver this September. It was held in Cozumel in 2012 and Napa in 2011.
"Zagat, Southern Living, Saveur and others have recognized Louisville's growing
dining reputation, and we are thrilled to be coming to 'the culinary capital of
Bourbon Country' to 'celebrate the art of culinary excellence,'" said Keith
Kehlbeck, Executive Director for DiRoNA. "Because of Louisville's vibrant 'foodie'
scene and its central location, we expect a large turnout from DiRoNA award
recipients--the best of the best when it comes to North American restaurants."
"Considering that Louisville probably has more unique and distinguished restaurants
and chefs per capita than any other city, it's fitting and incredible for our city
to host this outstanding event," Mayor Greg Fischer said. "For DiRoNA to convene in
Louisville is further proof that our city's food and bourbon scene is deservedly
world-famous and getting bigger and better by the week."
“We are honored that the 600 award recipients of the Distinguished Restaurants of
North America have chosen Louisville for their 2014 annual international conference
and reunion October 5-9, 2014. Honorees are presented the DiRoNA award based on
their reputations for outstanding service, ambiance, and cuisine,” said A.R.
Sullivan, Chancellor of Sullivan University System. “The Brown Hotel has been
selected as the host hotel. Vincenzo Gabriele of Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant, John
Castro and Hazel Matthews of Winston’s Restaurant, and Dean Corbett, owner of
Corbett’s American Place Restaurant are chairing the host committee”.
