Bourbon & Broadway dinner for Sister Act at St. Charles Exch

by Robin Garr » Tue Nov 26, 2013 11:52 am

PNC Broadway in Louisville and Four Roses Bourbon will host a four-course “Bourbon and Broadway” dinner inspired by Sister Act, the musical, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at St Charles Exchange, 113 S. 7th St.

Dinner is $55 per person (plus tax and tip). All diners will be entered in a drawing for two tickets to the opening night performance. For reservations, call 618-1917 or go to www.stcharlesexchange.com.

Sister Act, the musical:
When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place cops are sure she won't be found - a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself
at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and an uptight Mother Superior. Using her fabulous disco-ness and killer voice to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church, but in doing so blows her cover. Soon it's nun-on-the-run time but she finds salvation in the heavenly power of her newly found sisterhood. Based on the feature film, Sister Act, the musical features an original Alan Menken/Glenn Slater score inspired by Motown, soul and funk to great big disco anthems and Barry White-style musical comedy.

Sister Act, the musical will play in Louisville at The Kentucky Center Jan. 7-12. Performances are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Saturday matinee at 2p.m., Sunday matinee at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Tickets begin at $25 and may be purchased at The Kentucky Center box office (501 W. Main St.), by calling 584-7777 or online at http://KentuckyCenter.org or http://TicketMaster.com. For groups of 10 or more, contact Hilda Davis at 569-3060.
