Is there a good lobster roll in Louisville?

by Robin Garr » Mon Nov 25, 2013 11:28 am

This question comes in from a reader who's eager to chomp down on this Northeastern coastal treat. I recall that Chef Mike Hungerford made an outstanding model at the old Seafood Connection, but he left there for Coals (and then for points unknown), and now Seafood Connection is gone.

Does anyone else make a good one, as far as any of you know? Lobster is pretty popular here, but lobster roll is kind of regional, and I'm not sure how much demand there is for it.

The good folks at Grind make a delicious lobster roll, though it's rare.

There is a new mobile food truck dedicated to just lobster rolls, lobster bisque and clam chowder. They are hitting the street for the first time today at the Frankfort Avenue trolley hop. Look for the red Longshot Lobsta. Yum

Found the longshot lobster truck over by mid city mall this afternoon. they have the "traditional" lobster roll with mayo, the "maine" lobster roll with yogurt, and the "connecticut" lobster roll warm with butter. all are $10. went with the connecticut, and it made this new englander's day.

They have a Facebook page as of today. It says:
Longshot Lobsta will be at the Bardstown Aglow this Saturday

Yum!

i have a lot of favorite food trucks, but Longshot Lobsta just vaulted into the upper tier. Lobster rolls, lobster bisque, and these killer cheddar biscuits with melted butter. A veritable health food store in a styro box!

Highly recommend.

If only there were an app that food trucks could use to let me know on any given day where to find them instead of having to follow them all on Facebook......

You can actually look at the Schedule for many of them on this webpage: http://foodtrucksinlou.blogspot.com/ just go to the events calendar page. I wish they all would utilize this website so we had one place to go to to find out where they all were! Interestingly, it was actually started by Little Cheezer's but I guess they are no longer participating in it.

I wish they'd all use the Food truck app for iOS. All I ever see is Boss Hogg BBQ (not that I don't want to see them).

Charles, using an app for iOS doesn't really cover the entire user base like a website or even a twitter or Facebook account does! It's much easier to use one type of media to reach everyone and that something that iOS app cannot do.

No but a combined iOS and Android App would. Especially one that could locate trucks nearby your geographic location the same way Yelp can find restaurants near you.

Dont get me started on the whole proclivity of local "app developers" and start ups only building apps for Apple. When 80% of all smart phones now sold are Android operating systems. Its ridiculous. I would rant more but Ive been drinking and dont want to look like the crazy old guy.
