Ethnic Food on Fifth St. (Downtown)

by Carole C » Wed Nov 20, 2013 3:00 pm

Abyssinia, the Ethiopian restaurant on Fifth St. next to Pesto's, now serves a lunch buffet. Several vegetable dishes, two lentil dishes and three meat dishes, plus salad and injera for 6.99. Healthy and tasty. Walking back to my office, I saw a sign for Masala Grill "coming soon" in the space that used to house Fat Jimmy's and the short-lived Queen of Sheba outpost. I am very excited at the prospect of having Indian food as a lunch option again. There have been a couple over the years but nothing that has lasted very long.

Oh shoot. You mean we won't get another hamburger, pizza, or Mexican place in that spot! ......by the way, thanks for the tip on the Ethiopian buffet. I'll be entertaining an out-of towner next Wed and now know the perfect lunch spot for our Evan Williams Experience après-visit.

Stopped by here today. Decent Ethiopian food, although the injera was a bit dry, as one might expect. It really did have a solid array of vegetarian dishes (beets, cabbage, greens) as far as buffets go. Overall, a good value for $7. Thanks for posting this, Carole.

I had lunch there today. A great bargain at $6.95. They even had white and brown rice on the buffet. The hot tea was good as well and only cost $1. They are also open for dinner.
