So sad to pass so young. I thought he closed his place to " slow down" a bit- such a shame that he only got a little time....

Robin, you sure came up with the correct word! I'm sure it is a sentiment shared by many here. He's certainly a figure that the restaurant community will greatly miss.

I'm just glad that I got to experience his creativity and genius on several occasions.

Trotter was like the Lou Reed of chefs. Ahead of his time and influential, though not as famous as those who chose to be more ingrained in pop culture.

Died much too young as he was looking to start next chapter of his life.

As native Chicagoan, I have to say there are many great chefs but he will not be replaced.
