Anybody tried Bully Barbecue in Buckner?

by Robin Garr » Tue Oct 22, 2013 5:05 pm

A buddy of mine who lives and works in Pewee Valley was telling me about Bully Barbecue in Buckner, which sounds pretty good ... and affordable.

It was news to me, though. Anybody here tried it?

Jim T said, "Lunch from Bully Barbecue in Buckner. $5 for brisket, kale greens, and cole slaw! The owner's building a second smoker to handle all the business! ... It's on Hwy. 393 across from OC High School. Been open since June 2011."

And, a follow-up Facebook post:

Creative use of what used to be the carwash in Buckner across from Oldham County HS. Agree with Jim...good stuff! Can't say good sh** to a priest. Or can I? Hmmm. I think I have before. Anyway, good place to grab good BBQ.

I'm told it's the same feller that used to set up the food truck....errrrrr I mean plywood trailer in the parking lot at Keith's Hairport in beautiful downtown Buckner. On that assumption, as I recall the "Q" was good, not great....not bad...just good. At the time, he was doing the trailer thing the sides were all (literally) "GFS" and I have no idea if that has changed. Now he's in the building that used to house the ice cream/hot dog/car wash stand across from the high school. I'm told it's a pretty hot place for the fellers who work out at the road department, prison, dog pound, etc out there on 329...good, cheap and convenient.

Surprised if he lives and works in Pewee Valley that he would drive to Buckner for Q. Jucy's is right there and I think they do a great job.

No, but just try saying "5 Buck Brisket at Bully Barbecue in Buckner beats the best"...
