British Christmas Party

by Alison Hanover » Sun Oct 20, 2013 12:24 pm

Hi, we need some ideas of where to have our British and Proud FB group Christmas Party. We are leaning towards Mollys Baxter because they will let us have a side room and we can bring our own food, or they will do a buffet for $20 per head. The room is slightly on the small side though. There couild be anywhere from 20 - 40 + of us. Any ideas are welcome.

It depends on if you want to bring your own food or have the place where you are having the party, provide it. If you want to bring your own there are several options you may not have considered. Many subdivisions have community centers that can be rented for a very low price or even free if somebody lives in that area. Also many churches have community rooms that are very reasonable. Most restaurants are certainly going to want you to have the food provided by them and in many cases probably won't let you bring your own food because of health concerns.

Following up on what Mark said, St. Thomas Episcopal Church (clearly with a British connection through the CoE  ) has a large fellowship hall building with a restaurant kitchen, and it's rentable at competitive rates:

Standard rental fee - $75 per hour
Open/close fee - $75
Refundable damage deposit - $150

More info:

St. Thomas is at 9616 Westport Road, between Goose Creek and Hurstbourne, across from Kroger. Let me know if you want to pursue this further, and I'll introduce your people to our people.

well, let's see......
On the one hand, church halls and community centers - places where folks gather to share fellowship, great conversation, good food and a generally communal spirit. And supporting them (by hiring them out/contributions) makes a very positive statement about your organization's commitment to enhancing community values.....
On the other hand, Molly's has pints....
oops, not such a tough decision, after all!

Alison,
Our clubhouse at Springhurst ( Far East end , but 2 mins from Gene Snyder exit) is quite nice, has a very nice kitchen and can accommodate your group easily. http://springhurstonline.com/store/prod ... .10.12.pdf If you are Interested, I would be happy to sponsor you- just PM me.
