I never ended up eating at the Blind Pig, but I enjoyed their beer selection during my visits.

Now the building on the other hand... am I the only one who noticed how horribly musty it smelled?

Doers anyone have the latest on their status? Last I heard they were re-negotiating with the landlord/owner for a last minute reprieve...

Deb

Last I heard, that had fallen through and that they were indeed going to close Saturday.

Please come outside of 264. Maybe old Middletown or someplace like that?

Yes please!!!

Middletown needs more independently owned restaurants. Plus places with good beer in walking range of my home are limited. :D

Middletown may need more good restaurants, but I think a concept like the Blind Pig would lose something significant if it were moved out of Butchertown.

I agree ( Butchertown. Germantown, etc) The atmosphere from the rehab/reuse is a large part of the appeal. It's not far to drive anyway from the East End....

Well stated. It is too bad Meat and Blind Pig are both gone. That area was poised to make its mark with the addition of the Brandy distillery across the street. This is a setback. Hopefully someone else will move in to fill the void.

The same applies in reverse.

Thank you.

I have a "rule" for Louisville driving that while not literally true, is a good rule of thumb: everywhere in Jefferson County is exactly a 20 minute drive away. No more, no less.

Nearest grocery store? 20 minutes.
Cross the county? 20 minutes.

Adjustments for rush hour or rain are acceptable.

"Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity! 20 minutes from everywhere!"

One of the benefits of being in the urban core of a city is that there are alternatives to driving. How many people have easy access to Butchertown by walking, biking, or public transit? In general, these options are diminished in the suburbs due to the lack of density. Further, I believe that moving the Blind Pig from it's previous setting in a historic neighbourhood to a location in the middle of a suburban parking lot would take away from it's charm.
