Party to unveil Pappy swag ...

Some of you trophy-hunters might be interested in this event, either the free gathering or the $100 VIP gig. Doesn't look like it will give you a score to buy a bottle of Pappy, though!

MORE | Fourth generation Van Winkle family is excited to launch “Pappy & Co”, goods and apparel inspired by Old Rip Van Winkle bourbon, on Saturday, Oct. 19, 3-7 p.m., at Foxhollow Farm in Crestwood, Kentucky.

The Van Winkle legacy of bourbon has been a long and proud tradition in Kentucky. “Pappy & Co” goods and apparel are made with the same dedication to taste, quality and style that their great grandfather’s original vision embodied.

The free event includes hand-crafted bourbon Old Rip Van Winkle cocktails, barbecue from Bluegrass Brewing Company, cuisine from Wiltshire Pantry, La Palina Cigars brought by Riverside Cigar Shop, and the bluegrass sounds of Relic Bluegrass Band; plus, many other local vendors.

The event is free, but tickets are available for an exclusive VIP Party, hosted by the Van Winkles, from 4-5:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are $100 each and include a tasting of Old Rip Van Winkle’s 10, 12 and 20-year bourbon batches, hors d’oeuvres, and a signature “Pappy & Co” gift bag. While many of us including myself enjoy drinking Pappy on occasion it's beginning to grow in the wrong directions for its own good. It started with trying to expand distribution too far so that loyal customers couldn't find the product when they wanted it and now it's showing the ugly side of commercialization! How many people who really drink Pappy for what it is really want to have a Pappy shirt or hat? I really don't think too many do, people will just want these items for the prestige of the name, not the history and quality of the product.
