Sent a message to Ronnie to see if they were remodeling etc before I posted. He confirmed that the franchise owner of the location has decided to close the location. I guess I'll probably hit up Joe's OK Bayou a little more often now.

They had the worst hours of any restaurant I've ever seen. They never seemed to be open during the hours that people would normally be eating and would often be closed during hours they advertised they were open.

Yea, someone wasn't trying very hard. Always closed during posted hours. If I made the trip over there I always knew it was a 50/50 shot.

One of the great unsung restaurants in Louisville. LOVE me some Joe's OK Bayou.

I apologize for the inconvenience, folks. The Lyndon store was originally owned and operated by Bill Fox Sr., our founder's father. He ran the store almost entirely on his own and being an older gentleman often had to shorten the hours. This is by way of explanation not excuse. We recently sold the store to one of our other operators, but that operator was unable to turn the store around to his satisfaction and opted to close the store instead. It is a loss for us as the Lyndon store was the fourth store we opened and other than Frankfort Ave. had been the longest continuously open location. One of the most difficult parts of being a multi-unit outfit is putting the fruits of your labors in the hands of others. This is one of the downsides of that situation.

On the flip side our UofL location just got its full spirits license, so the full bar is OPEN!

FWIW -- I always had great luck at lunch time there. The new ownership and management also did try to extend into dinner hours, but I guess the previous reputation of spotty hours was tough to overcome.

Steve, love me some Joe's OK Bayou. I actually tried to have my rehearsal dinner there... but my wife vetoed the idea. We should plan a Monday lunch offline there for double punch day!

The website for the Lyndon location says "relocating to St. Matthews in the future," but doesn't give a specific date or location. I've been hoping for a J. Gumbo's in that area.

We are scouting, but real estate in the area is really tricky.

Well, you could always open in the Highlands and call the place the St. Matthews store.

That would balance out that whole name paradox thing you have going on. :P

There is a fundamental flaw in my brain that prevents such a thing from ever happening. I had to let down several mental barriers just to read your post!
