Anniversary Dinner - Suggestions please!

by Kim H » Mon Sep 30, 2013 5:15 pm

Sure would appreciate input from the foodie experts on this forum. Looking for a good restaurant suggestion for an anniversary dinner. Some place special, but it doesn't have to be over the top. It will probably be a mid-week meal, trying to avoid weekend crowds. So many new restaurants, as well as many classic standbys... your input would be much appreciated! TIA!

Kim,

I think Marketplace @ Theater Square would be perfect for your dinner. It's romantic, in a gorgeous space with fabulous food. If you go weekends they have live music; their patio is the best in town in my opinion.

Happy anniversary!

Deb's suggestion is mighty hard to beat, and Chef Dallas is the kind of friendly guy who will probably take a few extra steps to make your evening special, if he knows you're there.

That being said, NuLu is rich with options these days. I like Decca, Harvest, Wiltshire, La Coop and Mayan Cafe in no particular order, and need to get a second glance at Rye, which has lots of fans. Seviche is always a winner. So is Corbett's, if you'd rather go out in the burbs, or Napa River Grill or Captains Quarters. Just to name a few. :)

For my money, Jack Fry's is a slam dunk.

For a romantic special occasion, these are some of my favorites in no particular order:
Varanese( an easy pick for me as it's Colleen's favorite in the city! Always great! Semi budget friendly )
211 Clover (we don't talk about this place enough here, but It's really, really good)
Volare (some of the best food & service in town on Frankfort Ave.)
Lilly's (some of the best food & service in town on Bardstown Rd.)
Corbett's (some of the best food & service in town in the Far East end)
Wiltshire on Market (another gem we don't talk about enough)
Marketplace@Theater Square ( nuff said)
Revue the Galt House(pretty tasty eats and you get the absolute best view in the city)
And if you really want to show off "The Oakroom" (classy and pricey!)

Wow! Thanks to Deb, Robin, Mike, and Dan for the awesome suggestions! What to choose, what to choose ... we are so incredibly blessed in this city! It may end up being this weekend, but I'll report back. I'm excited! Thanks again! :)

Don't forget Ed Lee's places:

Milkwood
610 Magnolia

Absolutely! I'm particularly high on MilkWood these days because it's accessibly priced and easy to enjoy for a quick bite or a leisurely evening. I love 610, but it remains more of a special-event destination for me.
