My son and I finally made it down to try Funmi's earlier tonight. I've seen several people here rave about it. Our server was wonderful- probably the same guy that Robin wrote about in his review. The food was good, although I prefer Ethiopian.
However, we got an unexpected show while we were there. Ten minutes after sitting down, we saw a bunch of cops pull up outside, walk around looking at stuff, and eventually wrap the area in crime scene tape- effectively blocking us in. Turns out two people were shot in front of the drugstore there. For the cops to get there so soon after we arrived we figure the shooting must have happened pretty much as soon as we parked. The area they cordoned off around us had what looked like a bunch of weed strewn all over the ground, and they were taking lots of pictures of it.
After about an hour we went outside to see if we'd be able to leave anytime soon. One of the officers pulled back the tape so I could get out. I think this is one time I would have preferred just the meal, and could have happily done without the 'entertainment'!
