Cool, Dan! Can you share what you are going to do with it? Have a concept yet?

Although the old gray mare ain't what she used to be, the Twig & Leaf has been in continuous operation since March 1959 at it's present location. Before that it was just a lunch counter diner located in St. Matthews.

Deb- The Old Louisville Tavern is now open and serving fresh cut fries, hand pattied burgers, portebello fries, wings, hand breaded chicken tenders, and fresh made house sauces. I like to call it classic tavern food done fresh in house. We are in the process of restoring the facade and replacing the roof. If all goes well we will continue to incrementally update the entire building.

While not EXACTLY in the metro area, the Old Talbott Tavern in Bardstown has been serving continuously (except for the two years after the big fire and rebuild) since 1779. That's a tough record to beat in my eyes! 8)

Fire damages Old Louisville tavern :(

What a shame! They'd just done some great renovations to open up the front of the building. Hope they can bounce back quickly.

(Posted here because it's the most recent discussion of The Tavern. Robin can split this off into a new discussion if needed.)

Awww! I hope they can bounce back.

Jeff, there's no need to split it at this point (plus, I'm kind of scared to until our server move and hanging software update is complete).

For future reference, it might be optimal to start a new thread and, within your post, paste in a link to the old one. But that's finicky. Your reply bounces the old topic back up to the top, and people will see it. Good enough! :)

I had no idea Kunz's dated back that far! That's got to be the winner.

Robin- was the dining room at the Mayflower called J. Timothy's when you were in college? I remember it as a very fine place.

I really don't think you could count the Oakroom as a continuing restaurant. My father was F&B manager during some of the sad times at the Seelbach and I recall it was only used as a party room for most of the time he was there. The main dining room was The Jim Porter Room on the first floor.

I loved Kunz's when I was a teen. I would visit my dad, see at movie at the Palace, and have a kebob at Kunz's. Good times.

Edit- Ha! Didn't even notice the post date until I posted this. So sorry to hear about The Tavern.
