Seeking East End venue, private room, with beer ...

by Robin Garr » Sat Aug 31, 2013 3:24 pm

So a group I'm involved with is thinking about doing maybe three or four public adult-education sessions during the autumn, in a casual setting where we could order beer or wine and at least snacks, and a private room quiet enough for conversation would be available.

It's a regional group, so I can't go city-wide here, Westport Road area from Westport Village to the Snyder strongly preferred. We could probably go outside those boundaries a little, but would rather not.

Thoughts, anyone? And if you're a restaurateur prepared to talk details, I'd love to talk with you. 8)

Well, that's in interesting question. Problem is, I don't know, since it will start with a base group but be open. I would guess between 10 and 20, though, realistically.

It's a little outside of the area specified by the upstairs room at Coals meets your criteria nicely.

Noted, Mark. Nice option, and despite its upstairs venue, it's also accessible. Thanks!

I wouldn't suggest anything that wasn't!

Robin,
Some thoughts ( but I don't know minimums or room sizes).
Rooms:
Napa River
I think Wild Eggs has one too
Hikoamon- has a screened room but I think it only seats 12 or so

Hey guys...Maybe im a bit late, but we (Against The Grain Brewery) have a room that can easily accommodate 25ppl sitting. Its climate controlled and ....we have beer (and wine). If youre interested... email Jessy : jessy@atgbrewery.com

let her know that I suggested it.

Sam, I appreciate it, and I'm a big fan of AtG. It's just not going to make the cut for "Westport Road area," though. This group wants to stay closer to home for a recurring session.

Mitchell's Seafood has a private room about that size. We used it for a group for several years on a regular basis. While it wasn't anyone's favorite restaurant, we all found good stuff to eat, and they were very nice to work with. (On the rare occasion they weren't available, we went across the courtyard to Martini's which has a similar-sized space)

True, it's off 22 rather than Westport, but the Summit/Paddock isn't all that far . . .

While not noted for beer (would you drink wine?) Limestone has a coujple of private rooms, and is only a mile down Hurstbourne!

Andrew, thanks! Those are excellent ideas, and yes, absolutely, they would fit the "Westport and environs" requirement well.

It looks like Anne and I are going to chat with Ned at Napa first, but you've provided good alternatives, and I'm grateful.
