Yet another pizza chain coming to town!

by Mark R. » Tue Aug 27, 2013 4:24 pm

According to this article in Business 1st:Fast Casual Pizza Chain Coming to Louisville
5 Pie Pizza is going to be opening 10 restaurants in the Louisville/Lexington area with the 1st one opening by the end of 1st quarter 2014. Looking at the company's website http://www.piefivepizza.com/ they are very much like the Uncle Maddio concept. The customer can pick and choose what kind of crust, sauce and toppings they want on their pizza at the counter and then the pizza is baked and delivered to their table. All pizzas are the same cost!

Not quite sure we need any more pizza restaurants in the Louisville area, seem like we will reach saturation pretty soon!

Location will be key. In the highlands or st matthews and it will have a rough time. Out in the burbs, it could work.

Good, maybe now we can get a cronut pizza. Or better yet, a deep-fried twinkie pizza. Or maybe just dunk the whole pizza in batter and deep fry it! Seriously folks, let's add a few more Mellow Mushrooms and set a moratorium on new pizzerias in Louisville (except Imo's or Pies and Pints--they can come).

Just doing some follow-up reading on this in the local franchise group is the same group that has the franchises for the local McAllister's delicatessens. Those seem to be run very well and are reasonably priced so hopefully these will follow the same model.

I'm with you on Pies and Pints, but Imo's can stay in STL thank you very much. Seriously, I'm not sure that style of pizza would do well anywhere but the St. Louis area because it's, well, gross.
