Indiana Lunch Options......

by Becky M » Wed Aug 21, 2013 1:13 pm

The youngest of my little clan started preschool this year. It is only half a day, noon till 330 pm.....but for the first time in 10+ years I have a few hours to myself. It is something completely foreign to me, but believe me i am trying to make the best of it!

I would like to treat myself to lunch once a week. I think i deserve it! I have been looking through threads and see a few places i had not heard of before. can anyone give any info on some places on this side of the river? Nothing fancy.....just casual places i can go to for lunch. i will more than likely be alone.... but i dont think that should really matter.

They really need to be on this side.....Jeffersonville, Clarksville (is there really anything there??? other than the little mexican places?) , and New Albany.

I really enjoy going down to http://www.newalbanyexchange.com/ for lunch. Great atmosphere and food. I've also heard good things about http://cafe27.com/ but I haven't been there yet.

I also like the Orange Clover. Near Kye's at the foot of the Second Street Bridge.

Others include:
The Bristol in Jeff
Rocky's in Jeff
Iries Caribbean Cafe in Jeff
Come Back Inn in Jeff
Mai's Thai in Jeff
Kobe Japanese Steakhouse in Jeff

Dragon King's Daughter in N.A.
Feast BBQ in N.A.
Habana Blues in N.A.
La Bocca in N.A.
Louis Le Francais in N.A.
Bank Street Brewhouse in N.A.

You're right, there's not much other than chains & some interesting Latin American spots in Clarksville. But among chains they do have the original Senor Iguana's! And Kansai Japanese Steakhouse.

Add JR's and Jackson's Seafood to the list. They are both on Main St. in N.A., very close to Feast BBQ and NA Exchange.

Mimo's Pizzeria in New Albany. Best pizza around and great sandwiches/pasta as well.

Robin,
I had lunch there a bit ago. The register was still programmed to say "La Bocca" as it is run by close family to the La Bocca downtown. But they changed their name early on. It's a family pizza / pasta place catering to a similar need to Steve's Pizza King & Arni's, I'd say. Quite casual, not a La Bocca clone at all. I had a pasta with vodka sauce I enjoyed, haven't tried the pizza yet. At the time they had no beer or wine, dunno if that's been rectified. It is a little up Paoli Pike from I-265 in the little commercial center by what my wife and I always called the Burning Apartments. Not sure the proper name as it changed over the last 30+ years through numerous fires during that time.
