Pawley's Island South Carolina

by Jerry C » Wed Aug 07, 2013 8:39 am

I am in Pawley's Island SC this week for my son's beach wedding.

The families would like to go out for a nice seafood dinner, and I thought I would check with the HB team for suggestions...trust you guys a ton more than the other online reviews.

BTW, there will be approximately 15 adults and five kids ranging from 2 yrs to 10 yrs.

Thanks in advance for any knowledge you can pass on.

Jerry,

That's my home away from home! There are plenty of great restaurants in Murrell's Inlet with a great view of the Inlet (Drunken Jacks, Creek Ratz, Dead Dog Saloon, Wahoo's etc.) For fine dinner you can't beat Franks or Frank's outback (make reservations). More casual...Captain John is good and a good $$ very causal.

Cheers,

btw, Jerry, this has got *absolutely* nuthin' to do with food, but consider picking up a hammock while you're down there! I really think they make some of the best in the US and was taken aback recently when a neighbor (about to pay a visit down there) mentioned that they didn't know that "Pawley's Island Hammocks" came from.....Pawley's Island!!
Anyway, whatever you have to pay for one down there, it'll be a helluva lot cheaper than buying it anywhere else, once you're off the island.

I definitely second the Drunken Jack's suggestion. My in-law's live in Pawleys and we go to Jacks every time we visit. Our 3 year old loves the place - lots of cool things to look at and the view of the harbor is lovely. The portions are generous and there is so much to choose from whether you like your seafood broiled or fried. It gets crowded early, but you can kill time people watching on the boardwalk out back :)

Enjoy - we love it there!

My son's wife (married Monday evening on the beach), thought most on your list were too "touristy", and I wasn't about to argue with the new bride! We drove to Murrell's Inlet and all those restaurants were bunched together with a million people milling about the entire area. Looked like a sure hit for the younger crowd!

We drove another 200 yards and found the restaurant she made reservations at...Flo's. Right on an inlet so the setting was great and the food and service were very good.

Thanks for the input.
