Great experience at Jack Fry's!

by Deb Hall » Mon Aug 05, 2013 5:07 pm

Brian and I had dinner at Jack Fry's Saturday; it was the first time in years ( Nothing against Jack Fry's- there are just so many great new places in Louisville). Our experience was a great confirmation of why they've been around and successful for so many, many years. Other than the pork belly with watermelon which was good ( but not "porky enough for us" ), our food was excellent! The stilton salad was perfectly dressed with ALOT of stilton and my lamb chops were perfectly medium rare (and some of the best I've ever had) and served with an amazingly mushroom/truffle flavored gratin.

The service from Lee was top-notch- both perfect and personable. Truly a skilled server! To top a lovely evening off- we were very pleasantly surprised when we got the bill. We'd asked Lee for a wine recommendation to go with our entrees, but neglected to ask the price of his recommended bottle ( we never do this, but we were there on a gift certificate and figured we could pay for something). We assumed the bottle was likely an $75- 80ish up-sell and were really surprised to find out it was only $48 when we got our bill. What a classy, professional touch!

Thanks to Lee and Shawn for a great night out!

Good review of a great local spot, Deb. Reminds me that it's been a while since I was last there!

Back in the early 90's when I lived around the corner, sitting at the bar with a stilton salad a gin & tonic was when I fell in love with that place.

One of my favorite dishes in the city. Like delicious little lamb lollipops.

A landmark that is too easily forgotten ... should always be on my short list.
