A new beginning

by Dan Thomas » Fri Jun 28, 2013 3:12 am

As some of you that might know me personally; and for the others that don't, today is my last day at JCPS. I fell victim to budget cuts as my position was no longer deemed "necessary". I would like to thank everyone for all of your support as I transition into a bigger and brighter future! I already have several opportunities to choose from and I'm just trying to figure out what the right fit is for me at this point in my life and career. I look forward to the challenges that await! 8)

As I said when we were talking about this at the Ice House, Dan-O, best wishes wherever you land: We know that landing will be on your feet. If I can be of any help, or if the forum can, don't hesitate to ask!

Lets all hope you are going to be in a restaurant kitchen, so we can enjoy your food!

I'll second that notion! Selfishly I'd like to see you back out in the public sector so we be the benefactors of your skill and talent, but where ever to decide to go someone will be damn lucky to have you working with them. Please keep us informed.

No matter where Dan lands, that business will be much improved by his presence. You'll not find a classier act in this town than Mr. Thomas!

Best wishes Dan!

Sorry to hear that JCPS no longer thought what you were doing was worthwhile. Your programs with the children was certainly something that benefited them in so many ways. It certainly a loss for the school district and will open up many opportunities for you! Please keep us informed where you land.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for their support during this transition for me. The positive comments and all of the well wishing I have received from everyone has been very humbling to say the least.

That being said, I have decided to accept a position at Key Impact as an Operator Specialist.
After 25+ years in operations, it appears like a good idea after a few sleepless nights and much discussion with Colleen, that a move to the supply chain side of things would be the right move for me at this time. I will still be cooking here and there at charity events and I'm always available for catering for those of you that have enjoyed my food over the years. At this point in my life, it seems like a good time to hang up the chef coat and move on to other things in food service.

It would be very hard to go back and work nights and weekends after finally realizing what having a life is really supposed to be like. Those of you in "The Bizz" understand what I'm talking about. But for those of you who are home most nights by 6:00, pm have no idea of the personal toll that working in restaurants takes on you and your family over the years.
Anyway I thought it was time to let everyone know and thanks again for the support! :D
