First, I never forget bad service. On our daughter's 21st birthday, 1995, we went to Jack Fry's. The server flung the bread basket across the table, spilling a roll on the table. No comment.
We would have liked dessert since it was her 21st birthday, but he never came back, except to leave the check. 2013, we still haven't returned.
Today, we went to Harvest. We hadn't been. Had to pry the specials out of the server. She asked us if we really wanted to hear all of them.
Waiting on a second round of beers (good local beer list), we had to flag her down. She was surprised that the beer hadn't been delivered and went over and got it where it had been sitting at the bar. Not checking back at our table and seeing the empty glasses - water and beer wasn't a big enough clue.
The dessert we ordered wasn't available and since we had to wait for her return - approaching 1 1/2 + hours for lunch - my daughter and I went to Muth's to pick out dessert while my husband tried to get check and pay for it.
Service in Louisville. We eat out less and less. We regularly go to Whole Foods for Friday night; Apocalypse, and El Mundo other nights - downstairs, serve ourselves. Otherwise, we sit at the bar if possible.
Do we not look like we are going to tip? We order drinks, appetizers, entrees, and today, dessert.
Harvest had really good vibes plus good food, but I don't know if we have to go back. Too many choices.
